I just went out and for me to get to 15MPH I have to go to 3000 RPM in first gear I am thinking I might be at a higher gear ratio with the size of my tires like 4.10

they are 29, the stock size that was on my 97 4x4, i can stand it, almost thinking about getting bigger tires to make gears longer

That will make your first gear like mine 15 MPH I am tinking if I went to 4.56 ratio I could skip first gear all together lol

the reason i ask is to get an idea that maybe 3.92 is the highest i want to go. im running the 17X9s so 29 inchers. with the 355s now, i can get up to around 40 km/h in first around 4 grand. Its alot of money to throw away if i end up going to steep. (still kicking myself for not going with the 3.92 at build time)

ive got a 5.2, 5 speed, 3.92s and 31" tires - most of the time i skip first gear all together, its annoying as hell, slow and jerky. almost makes me wish i had something taller, but i wouldnt want to give up the extra towing capcity and stump pulling torque when im moving trailers around.

ya but if you rev it, like when your racing, you can obviously hook up cant you? and once you hit second gear it really flies up the band. Its second and third that i really want to pull.

i can definitly hook up, i honestly think its easier than in my friends 3.55, but second gear is so short when you shift out of first, i found that 3rd pulls like crazy from like 35 to 60, i love it, but i do with i had longer gears

THe 4.7 likes to rev. I had 3.92's in my old dakota, if it had not been for that I would have gone for 4.10's, but i couldn't spend that much for such a small drop... My 4.7 loved to rev (as all of them do) and I was doing 85mph at 3000 RPM for 22 miles at a time daily (each way too, 22 miles of that highway to work and home from work).. at 85k when i traded the engine did not leak anything, did not smoke, jsut loved it... so I would honestly go to the 4.10's and love them... the difference between the 3.92's and the 4.10's is small so just do it man.... I doubt they will dissapoint...
