Message: should be the same transmission, the 3.9L is the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 273, 318(5.2), 340, and 360(5.9).

Message: that is not really what i need to know.i want to know if the v6 5 speed tranny will work with a v8. i heard some rumors that the 5 speed transmission that came with the v8 is different than the one that came with the v6.

Message: The Magnum V6 (until 2000) came with the AX15 tranny. Since, then it comes with the NV3500 tranny (same as V8). Either one will technically bolt up to a 318 or 360, but the NV3500 is better suited for the application.

Message: Have to check with the dealership and see what tranny you have first. I have a 92 V6 with 5 speed tranny and I have the NV3500 which is the same one that comes with the V8. I would check which transmission you have, if it's the NV3500 it will work with the V8.
Hope this helps
