Message: Hey, I gotta replace my '90 311,000 mile Dak. Anyone with major failures for QC '01 to '03 PLEASE respond! Choosing between Dak & Tundra, major failure history one of the deciding factors.
THANKS!

Message: IMHO any vehicle will have some problems over the course of thier life. For me I went dodge ('03 CC 4.7 5-speed 4x4) to replace my 2wdd '00. The reasons I chosse dodge is that:
1. They are relatively easy to work on. There is room in the engine bay and things are overall thought out very well.
2. You can really work a dakota if you want to with just a couple easy mods. I did the roadmaster active suspension and last weekend hauled 1600 pounds of block without a problem, still had suspension left to go.
3. very little recalls compard to oters (like ford).
4. Comfort
5. power
6. looks
7. price (very competitive)
Etc.
The toyota will probably have fewer prooblems than a dak at 300k miles, but the cost to fix a dak will be less equalling the two out. I say get what you want (dakota... dakota.. dakota...) and take care of it and it will last as long as you need / want it to...
Chris
