I OWN A 2001 CC 4.7 AUTO TRANS.I HAVE OPENED UP THE EXHAUST AND PUT A 360 AIR INTAKE ON. MY QUESTION IS THIS ; HAS ANYONE PUT NITROUS ON A 4.7 IF SO HOW BENEFICIAL WAS IT (HOW MUCH QUICKER IN THE QUARTER MILE ) HOW BIG A SHOT DID YOU USE I.E. 50HP, 100HP. HOW HARD WAS IT TO INSTALL AND LASTLY SINCE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS PLASTIC ON THESE TRUCKS WILL IT HARM THE ENGINE

That's not exactly plastic! It can probably handle higher temperatures than cast iron. It's a composite. It won't hurt it at all as long as you don't go above like a 100 shot to be on the safe side. You could probably do more though and just blow head gaskets :)

I've always toyed with the idea of putting nitrous on my truck but can't ever decide weither or not to take the plunge.

Well I recently put nitrous on my r/t and it was a huge kick in the pants. This was after running a vortech scer for a year and a half. Big difference between torque and horsepower. I am now running the hundred shot and wearing a big smile. The rule for max shot you can get away with is usually a 20shot per cylinder so a v8 COULD take a 160 shot and survive if you dont detonate. Most 4.7 guys run a 75 shot, some a 100 shot. I would stick with a 75 shot and you will have lots of fun and drop +/- a sec in the quarter.

nitrous doesnt blow head gaskets, it melts
pistons and guess what? the 4.7 pistons
suck. dont go over 100 shot with the stock
pistons. a 75 shot would probably be your
safest bet remember nitrous puts out huge
amounts of torque the department where the
4.7 lacks.

I've had a 100 shot on mine for a little over a year now and no damage yet. The benifits will be more than you think !!!!!!!!!!!

nitrous does not melt pistons!! improper use of nitrous melts pistons, and COULD hurt more than that.
