Message: i have a 98 5.2 5speed, and here are the pro's and cons.
PRO- its verry easy to install
PRO- its cheap
CON- its cheap because it dosent come with everything you should have.
if you ONLY want to run the 6# pulley it comes with, you will need at the verry least a ignition that will allow you to retard the timing. most PD users, including myself, are using the MSD 6BTM
i would also recomend getting a aluminum type of airhat. at 6# i blew up 2 of the stock plastic POS that PD expects you to use.
there are a lot of little things that i didnt like about the kit when i bought it, but i have taken care of each issue, and im verry happy with it.
i got mine used for a good price and i can say, if you can find a good used one, buy it. if you are buying a new one, go with a vortech. by the time you buy eveything for the PD, you would have spent the same amout on the better blower (vortech)
if you are planning on running 9#+ of boost, let me know, and ill tell you what else you will need

Message: I agree with Eric. I work at a speed shop so I got a real good deal on a new one. You will need a MSD BTM or other that pulls timing, some autolite 3923s and an airhat of some kind. If you get the ATI hat your going to need a 1 inch spacer to clear the linkage. Also make sure you have taken care of the bellypan gasket, if you haven't you will real soon after install. Either get the M-1 or a billet pan with the updated gaskets.

Message: Besides what's listed, I have FMS 24lb. injectors, A ported T-body 50mm, 180 T-stat, and that's it. I do have a by-pass valve and a large Kirban Filter on the blower. Here are some pics.

Message: Lew,
I noticed that you have an IAT adjuster, what do you think? Does it really work? I ask because I purchased one over a year ago and never installed it. The adjuster is still in the plastic, but with everything that happened with Speedtweaks, I don't want to waste my time with it if it's junk.

Message: no, im running 91 octain. i put the pulley on, and the belt was slipping, and i was only seeing 7#'s
so this moring, i modified my auxilary tencioner that i built, and it took care of my problem.
i got 9-10#'s at about 4700rpm, on the test drive. i was pulling 2degrees of timing per 1# of boost, and i couldnt hear any detonation.
im going to the 1/8 track on thursday night, and will see how much timing i can pull out of it.

Message: Eric,
Just remember not all detonation is audible to our ears, just cause you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not happening. Ever thought about getting a knock sensor or two (one of each side) with an auto retard feature?
I've been thinking about one for the my future NX system. I think I saw one advertised on Hughes' website. Too bad our trucks (5.2&5.9)don't come with one from the factor, most cars & trucks do these days. I think the 4.7s come with one sensor and the HO 4.7s come with two.
