Subject: More Acceleration??!! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1987 dakota 4x4 3.9V6. It gets low gas milage, and has poor acceleration. I've tried new plugs, wires, coil,K&N filter, and other stuff I've forgotten. I realize it's no race car or a High MPG Honda Civic but I know there is someway I can improve upon 10-11 mpg TOPS!!! Any tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Message: My experience with natural gas hogs is you will spend more on things to save gas than you will ever recover in better gas mileage. How much MPG did it get when it was new?

Message: If you are getting poor millage and poor acceleration it could be that your rings and guids are badly worn. I would do a compression test and go from there. You might also check the trouble codes on this engine.
