OK....silly question maybe.....
What is the difference between a Dodge 3.9 and a Jeep 4.0? I know they are both made by Dodge. Are there any parts off the Jeep 4.0 that can be used on the 3.9 for more performance or power? I am just curious and if anyone can help...let us know.

3.9L is a V6 4.0L is an inline 6. 3.9l is a 5.2l with 2 cylinders chopped off. 4.0l is an old jeep engine. There are very little if any parts that interchange save a few bolts.

Also the Jeep engine is a far better engine in my opinion. Definately more ponies and torque with less problems.

Not Dodge. Chrysler!! Chrysler corperation! Dodge is only a division. Just like Chrysler is to day unforchantly.

The 4.0 (244) is a I6 not a V6. The 239 V6 is just a 318 that has been shunck down a bit and with 2 cylenders chopped off.

Also the 4.0 is a decended of the AMC 4.2.

but the 4.0 shares the same parts as with the magnums...

same sensors, same fuel injectors, same distributer as 3.9 (not the new distributerless ones) and the list goes on...

Turbocharged V6
