Subject: getting better mpg/hp IP: Logged
Message: alright, i'm like the rest of u Dakota and dakota R/T owners. I get crappy gas milage! i would like more HP also! So far, my Dakota R/T engine is stock except for the K&N cold air intake and Flowmaster exhaust
What should i get next? I am getting Bosch spark plugs/wiring put on in a few days. Will that help? I heard the Powerraid throttlebody spacer and MSD ignition might help to.
I also saw the Tornado. will that really work? or is it a waste of money?
Thanks alot guys!!!
Matt

Message: Heard from someone else on this board that the tornado is a ripoff. He couldn't even get his money back despite the 30 day money back guarantee.

Message: Unless your plugs are shot you wont notice any real difference in mpg. You may get some help from the MSD 6al box but dont expect much. The spacers really tend to be a waste of money. You want more power you have to put more air through the engine. Roller rockers, cam, heads, etc... "speed cost money, how fast do ya wana go?" If ya really want better mpg back off the gas pedal. YEAH RIGHT!

Message: I have a 5.2L Club Cab 4x4 and I averaged 20 MPG from SC to PA. It's kind of funny too because I used to get 16-17 on the hwy before I switched to Mobil 1 Tri-Syn.

Message: I used to have a ram 1500 with the 360. What I found works is Splitfire spark plugs. I dont know how but you get more power and mpg plus it is a cheap upgade. I would get over 20 mpg sometimes with that big V8.

Message: Do not get TB spacer, they are a complete waste of $ (Ashamed to admit, but I was a victim of power-aid, but got my money back).
You could lower the truck (less drag), install a toneau cover (less drag). Other than that, I guess it's the price we pay!
Darryl
P.S. I have:
Intake
Fastman TB
Gibson cat-back(single)
Jet stage 2
180*stat
Royal Purple synthetic(motor&diff)
Bosch +4
Lowered 2/3
Snuglid hard Toneau cover
I live in So Cal and I have a 18mile stretch of freeway that I have to drive just to get to work. Never any traffic, 65MPH and I still only get 18-19 MPG out of my V6 CC auto.

Message: Ok..again here is the list to start
Tune up
New air filter( K&N )
Correct tire pressure
Wheel alignment
Switch to all syn. lubricants including bearings,trans/transfer,u-joints,etc. (less rolling resistance)
Use the octane of fuel recommended for your engine.
A good wax job (less air resistance)
"J" gap and Index the spark plugs. ( does the same as Spit-fires but 1/4 the price)
Driving style.
