Subject: The ever popular exhaust question IP: Logged
Message: Ok guys here we go:
Current situation: I have a flowmaster 70 series si/do with 2.25 pipes out the rear. 70 series is not loud enough for me, almost sounds muffled, probably due to the 2.25 pipes not being mandrel bent and the bends being constrictive. Not loud enough outside, but like the very minimal drone inside.......moving on.
Upcoming situation: I am wanting to replace the exhaust with a si/so muff and go back to the 3" single pipe like stock.
I have narrowed my choices to 3 mufflers:Magnaflow, MBRP, or Spintech.
Ford guys seem to love Magnaflow, Dakota guys with the 4.7 rant and rave about the MBRP, and anyone that loves that muschle car sound seems to love the Spintech, though they say it has a very unique sound, deep and raspy or tinny.
Heres where I need you guys: If you have any experience with these 3 mufflers, please let me know things like interior noise, how loud outside, would you buy again, etc. However, these are the 3 I have narrowed to, so please dont try to sell me on Flowmaster again .
Thanks a million in advance.

Message: I had a si/so magnaflow put on my '03 4.7 and it sounds GREAT. Nice rumble, has the sound of authority without being obnoxious.
I opted to keep the the factory pipes as they are CRES (stainless), just had the muffler boys remove the factory muffler and splice in the magnaflow.

Message: I have a si/so Dynomax, which apparently sounds the same as Magnaflow, and I love the sound as well. Not annoying inside, but loud outside when you want it to be. Hope that helps!

Message: I put a spintech on my 3.9, kept factory pipes. Very pleased with the muffler; has a nice low rumble in the cab, loud but not obnoxious outside, and yes, many people think the truck has a v-8. The muffler is well made and the company was very helpfull in selecting the right model.

Message: Sorry, no I don't. I do remember that I called them to order one thing and after talking to them they advised I buy another model.(actually cheaper than what I was going to buy) Go to spintech.com and get some more info and their phone number, then give them a call.

Message: Let me put it this way. I like the MBRP muffler's sound so much I just ordered a universal one for my RX-7. I know it will be able to take the heat from the rotary too, MBRP has excellent quality work.
