Message: Can anyone tell me if the K&N FIPK from Gen I (92-96) or Gen II (97-99) will fit a 2002, even with slight modification to make it work ? I have the opportunity to buy one from a Gen 1 or one from a Gen II and I'd like to know if I can make it fit.

Message: The problem that you will have is re-locationg the cruise control cable.
The K&N kit for late model (2001 and up, I believe) 5.9s comes with a bracket to move the cruise cable out of the way. This cable runs directly through the area that the K&N filter will occupy.
You might contact K&N and see if you can buy just the relocation bracket from them. Their Tech staff can tell you for sure if it will fit.

Message: Witha little ingenuity(sp?) you can make the Gen11 for '97-'99 work on your '02. You'll have to bend the stock cruise control bracket and make a creative way to mount it to clear the filter. The cables cna just run through the same hole as the tube. I've done a couple installs of the older K&N kit on '00+ daks with no problems and no extra parts to buy.
