Subject: Installed MBRP Split Duals! IP: Logged
Message: Okay first off, let me say that when it comes to ordering stuff off of the internet, I'm one of the biggest skeptics there is. After reading multiple posts about Speedtweaks I became even more hesitant. Last week on Tuesday I ordered the MBRP Split Dual cat back system from Jonas at Premier Automotive and low and behold, it arrived at my house on Friday morning! Unreal! Let me just say that the customer service that I received from Jonas was absolutely top notch and it couldn't have went any smoother. I will without a doubt be ordering from him again. Not to mention that his prices on the MBRP line are WAY cheaper than ordering from MBRP themselves. Go figure. Anyhow, if you're thinking about putting any kind of after market exhaust system on your truck, MBRP is the way to go. I have a 2002 CC 4x4 with the 4.7L and so far have done the High Output Cams and cold air intake (did the AIT and TPS thing too). The exhaust was the missing link. Very easy install and what an amazing sound! I got so many looks and compliments over the weekend about the sound of my truck that it almost became embarassing. Even the local ricers were asking what it was and if they made kits for Civics etc. HA! That question was worth a chuckle. As for performance gains, I can honestly say that I noticed an improvement in off the line pick up and it seems to spin the tires a lot easier (which isn't necessarily a good thing). I think after the intake and H.O. Cams, the engine wasn't breathing out enough and it's now flowing a lot better. There's definitely a horsepower increase. How much? I wouldn't even be able to venture a guess but the point is, it's noticable and that's really all I ask. Once again, MBRP rules and plenty of thanks to Jonas!
Regards,
Aaron

Message: I was debating on which cat back to go with and i was leaning MBRP's way. Is the sound obnoxious? I want a nice sound, but I still want to have a conversation in the cab.

Message: I've been trying to find some pics of this kit, does it exit straight out the back or curve out on each side like the factory exits?

Message: Uncle Sam,
I was actually quite surprised at how quiet it is in the cab. There is absolutely NO droning and the sound isn't really that noticable inside the cab unless you put your foot through the floor. I'm yet to hear what it sounds like outside since I'm the only one that drives my truck but my friend told me that it almost sounds like two completely different exhaust systems from inside the truck to outside. I really thought it was going to be a lot louder inside the cab but driving at normal cruising speeds with the stereo on at a reasonable level (still being able to talk in the cab or be on the cell phone), you can just hear the deep exhaust tone. Not loud in the cab at all.
darcy,
The 3" tips stick straight out the back running pretty much along the same width as the frame. Looks very cool from the back and you can't actually see anything from the side. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Aaron

Message: Thanks Selcher for an interesting post. I'm trying to decide between MBRP, gibson or borla. Was the factory exhaust difficult to remove without power tools? Are the tips vunerable to crushing when off road? Thanks....

Message: Uncle Sam,
No I don't have the tow package on my truck and from what I've been told, the factory hitch will either have to be removed or altered in some way, but don't quote me on that.
Texas Todd,
I have the tire and handling package on my truck which means the bigger tires. The back of the truck is now home to my spare but I have a hard toneau cover so no worries.
rockgod,
Give Jonas from Premier Automotive a call and talk to him. He'll steer you in the right direction and can speak from first hand knowledge on the different brands of exhaust. You won't be disappointed with MBRP. As for taking the factory exhaust off, I used a heavy duty reciprocating saw which took me all of 5 seconds to remove the factory exhaust. I'm not too sure about the tips and offroading but mine are only about a half an inch below the bumper so the way I see it, if the stock exhaust wasn't a problem offroading, either will this kit. Hope this helps!
Regards,
Aaron

Message: Selcher,
MBRP does make kits for the ricers, but a fart pipe is still a fart pipe no matter who makes it.
