Message: I had mine installed at Houston Drive Train in 1/02 for $440 plus tax (461.86 total).
The invoice was $265 for parts (Motive 4.10 gears) and $175 for labor.
Call 713.675.6375 and talk to Pat Heintz. He handled my install and was recommended to me by another Dak owner that had his gears done there. The are located on the Loop 610 at Wayside. (Hey, right on the way to HRWP).
These guys know what they are doing and will set up an appointment with you. It took them about an hour and a half start to finish (with two guys working on it. I did not have to have new bearings with my instal.

Message: I guess these ol' Texas boys are a little more generous than the East coast mechanics. My 4.56 install is scheduled for next Thursday for $150.00, and this guy, Johnny Preston, has been installing gears for 25 years and is known in the 4-states area as the best there is.

Message: I have been shopping around for a price to install my Richmond 4.10's with complete install kit - I have been quoted from $175 to $ 300 just for the install. The guy that wanted $300 worked out of the dirtiest garage I have ever seen. The guy that quoted $175 worked in a busy, but cleen and business like garage that caters to rebuilding rear ends. And, BTW, he would install my new Spicer trac-loc as part of the deal!!
In short, some will charge you whatever they can get. Some won't.

Message: The best place in the DFW area is Speedworks located in Lewisville. They are a high performance shop. They quoted me around $320 for diff. and gears.
