Subject: MSD Ignition ruined my night: TAKE II IP: Logged
Message: great. so my friend and i spend an hour trying to hook up the msd timing box to my 6a, get it running, it runs fine for the 35 minutes it takes to get to where we are racing...then about 1 mile ( in the middle of focking nowhere mind you ) it just S T O P S. engine stopped. after some searching and stuff, we find a blown fuse in the power box under the hood. so i have a short somewhere. tomorrow we are taking out the n20 and the msd products. im focking DONE with msd. anyone that can help me figure out why it would do this, PLEASE respond *sniffle sniffle, i need closure, sniffle sniffle*

Message: its probably not grounded good, when you put the ground wire on did you scrape the paint off the spot that you connected it to, only other thing i could think of is maybe a frayed wire somewhere coming in contact with the metal, sorry to hear about that, hope everything turns out ok

Message: When I installed my msd btm, the truck ran for a few min then died. It would not start up for nothing. I had to bipass it and not use it.
Any ideas why it did this?
Thanks,
Will

Message: Not to be rude but most of the problems people have w/ MSD or any other ignitions is ignorance on how to wire it properly and get good grounds. MSD is top quality when it comes to ignitions. People wire it incorrectly then it fails then they blame it on how crappy the product is.
Go and retrace your steps and make sure everything goes according to the instructions thats the best thing to do.

Message: normally i am the first person i put blame on, but weve tried EVERYTHING...the main problem i have with msd, along with every other aftermarket supplier is shoddy directions that are extremely vague, even when adding on to their own products. hooking the timing controller to factory ignition i could see would be tricky possibly...but hooking up to the 6a??? shouldnt be tough...oh well, were trying to work out the bugs...keep em coming guys, the more suggestions the better.
