Subject: truck stalling...cold temperature? HELP IP: Logged
Message: I cannot figure out what has been happening lately. I'm driving down the highway, or I'm at an intersection, and the truck just shuts off. No hesitation at all! No warning at all!
I try to rev up the RPM's really high when I'm at an intersection, and that seems to help out a little. The fuel pump, filter are both new within the past month. I have been using fuel line cleaners and water removers for the past month. But it's still doing it.
I do an onboard diagnostic and no sensors show up. It just says 51 and 52, which just means one injector is rich and the other is lean, but this doesnt tell me much.
When it dies, it takes a while to start it up again. Then I drive for a couple miles and it happens again. One time when it wouldnt start, I checked the injectors, and one was not emitting any fuel, and the other was barely spitting any out. So I replaced that one and it still happens.
Something tells me that the problem is NOT in my fuel line or fuel delivery. I am wondering if its my timing? I have 157,000 miles on my Generation I truck.
I am stumped...

Message: Do you live where it is very cold? Does it only happen when the engine is cold? You may need to clean or change out you plugs.

Message: I know that it was just replaced but your symptoms seem to indicate that the new fuel pump is faulty (not putting out enough pressure).

Message: Yes I live in Utah, and it seems to be happening when its early AM hours, or late afternoon/night time hours (obviously during colder hours). I will check the plugs today.
Xplikt yes while I'm driving at a cruising speed, and it also happens if I'm idling. It doesnt matter if I'm on the interstate or at an intersection. The same thing happens.
Ticats, it happened a time or two before I replaced the fuel pump, and as its been getting colder here, it seems to be happening more and more frequently. I am hesitant to spend time working with the fuel pump, as I'm not convinced yet that is the culprit.
Something is messing up my fuel delivery, like a timing problem? Would an oxygen sensor cause this? Could a temperature sensor cause this?
I will check the plugs this morning. Any other feedback would be nice!
