I have a 2000 dakota CC...Now my question is how can I Get my truck to be the lightest possible weight, without distroying the whole truck :) I just need some easy suggestions to take off anywhere from 100-200 pounds...Is it possible??

You can lose an honest 50lbs by ditching the spare wheel/tire.

Tailgate, spare, crap in your truck that you've been meaning to get rid of for months, and the jack. Dumped exhaust and no muffler or third cat takes some weight off. Go on a diet yourself.

I think 100 pounds is perfectly feasible.

Try getting a rollpan for the rear. You'd be surprised how much that rear bumper weighs! Only thing is, when you take all that weight off the rear, it gives you worse traction.

What about the front? Taking all the weight off the rearend and you'r surely not going to hook up.

OK, I'll bite on this one.

Why only 100-200 #'s? Hell, run it way down on gas, 8.2 #'s a gallon.

I've put a Leer shell on my QC, it's ~170lbs!

If you're gong for weight, get radical about it!

HOw much do you weigh? Your significant other? Any heavy power amps? Speakers?

You could try to do some weight transfer from the front to the rear. to make better use of the weight you have. like moving the battery to the bed of the truck.

Just A thought.

Well I don't know how much stuff you are willing to take off to shed some weight but ditching the seats and putting a pair of plastic summit racing seats will save you some weight. Taking out interior trim will save some weight. Lose the AC that will save weight and drag on the motor. Relocate battery to the rear. Losing the spare and putting a roll pan will save a lot of weight but might have adverse effects on traction. Skinny, light weight wheels up front will save some weight too. I don't know but does anyone make a fiberglass front clip for the dakota? I know they make one for an s-10 so the whole front bodywork only weights 30lbs! :D

Page 232 of the mopar parts catalog gives you the # to Jerry Haas for a carbon fiber bdy kit. More realistic is saving 30-20lbs. If you want more go to this site: http://www.revengeracing.com/ they sell complete or individual fiberglass body parts(fenders, doors, quater panel even the roof!) There is also, http://www.hairyglass.com/dakota.html

Other weight savers to add to what others were saying would be to get light weight aluminum wheels and make any none structual peice out of aluminum(brackets mainly) the weight savings will add up.
