Subject: Better bottom end IP: Logged
Message: OK, so it would seem that I have dorked up with too big an exhaust system. That's not my first automotive error and there certainly is no financial reason I can't fix it.
So as a recap, most folks think that an HO cam would help me get some of that bottom end back. But before I go throw down a buck or two, some of you guys that have done this need to let me know what else I need to do to make the HO cam work.
Do I need to change the springs? What about the intake? Will I get anything without making that change? Any other parts that need to be changed at the same time to see the HO cam benefit?
Now what about that throttle body? Does that improve high end HP or low end torque?
I've got a hot rod already...I don't need to try to build my 4x4 into another one. My truck is my daily driver....I just want a litle more pep below 3000 rpm and possibly a mile or two better gas mileage. Quit laughing about the gas mileage part....a guy can dream, right?
As a side note, I saw another post where some guy was looking to buy a Quad and wanted to know which was better for gas mileage the 4.7 or the 5.9. I had to laugh at some of the answers. Let's face it, we all love our trucks, but (as the old expression goes) discussing MPG among Dodge engines is like discussing virtue among call girls.
