Message: I was thinking yesterday, if colder air makes more power, how can i make the air colder that goes into the engine? I normaly use a bag of ice when i go to the track, but it's not too practical when street racing, so i was chillin at a friend's house when he sprayed me with a can of duster ( the stuff for the computers ) , it has sorta a freon effect. i was wondering what would happen if a sprayed duster (tetrafluoroethane) in my intake durring a race, would i blow my engine, or would i go faster???
pretty stupid question but its ok cus i was high when i thought of it....

Message: Tetraflouroethane is a refrigerant. If anything, you'll create one nasty gas after the engine digests it (similar to how R-12 is converted into phosgene). Don't do it.

Message: You don't put ice on the intake manifold. You put it on the air intake.

Message: OMG I'd hate to behind your truck if you sprayed that in there! Actually. I think it was the Chlorine in R-12/R-22/R-502 (CFC's) etc that makes the phosgene/mustard gas. Not sure about the other stuff. But it only takes burning a few ounces of the stuff to drive people out of a room. I was planning on making an auto security system that burnt a slight amount to keep any would be thieves away!
But you know these days you get sued for criminals being injured by the victim!!!!
I don't think you would want to spray anything down the intake except for Oxygen LOL! The more Oxygen the more Fuel you can inject! Hense the two pure Oxygen molecules in N20 being so valuable to racing in it's high pressure, convinient tanks. And of course the colder the air, the more dense it is, the more Oxygen molecules you have in the same given area! Of course, a blower is also nice :-)
