Subject: Supercharged R/T owners please respond IP: Logged
Message: I recently test drove a 2000 R/T with a super. It has only 16,000 miles, and I could probably buy it for $15k. What kind of 1/4 mile times are you getting? This thing seemed awful slow. The leftover 2002 4.7 "motorsports edition" I drove right before it was noticeably quicker.
Now, the salesman told me that their techicians had spent a week tuning the R/T, and I suspect that they tuned all the power right out of it!
What gives?

Message: what kind of blower?
if they had to spend a week "tuning" it, what was wrong with it?
the only way to know if you are getting all of the power out if it, it to take it to a dyno and get a look at the A/F raio's and see how much power its getting. i am 99.999% sure they didnt do this, so what they probably did was take a bunch of timing out of it untill it stopped detonating, and thats why its not producing and power.
-Eric Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown. 5.2L, 5speed. Powerdyne SC, 50mm TB, 2bbl M-1, 1.7RR's, MSD 6BTM, ceramic JBA headers, 3

Message: I agree with Eric. The truck probably has a blown plenum gasket and instead of the dealer fixing it, they've retarded the timing. From experience, dealers do as little as possible to get a vehicle ready for resale.
If you know what to look for, you can purchase the vehicle and make the dealer fix everything. This happened to me and the dealer lost quite a bit of money on all the repairs I uncovered. hehehe Good Luck.

Message: I have a Kenne bell S/C and the stock kit with headers was laying down 250 rwhp and 350 rwtq, it did not really run well like that, got me in mid 14's on the quarter, but as soon as you spend some $$$ on your fuel system is when u really get some power for your buck.

Message: I bought mine used from a dealer with a powerdyne, is was a big pile of crap but of course, not when I drove it home. Before my first payment I was ripping the heads off it for a blown head gasket. Plug wires were shot, the pan gasket was blown and the FMU didn't work. It still ran 14's before I started fixing things. Everyone is right ... the dealer will hack it together so they can off it. And yes with some work and focus on the fuel system, it can be a rush! Good luck with whatever you go with.

Message: Yeah, I figured the dealership just slapped on a bandaid, and pushed it back out to the playground. I'm not sure which blower it was (no markings of any sort). It did make a weird "bomb drop" kind of whistle, that came in half way through a good pedal stomp. They also were not offering any type of powertrain warranty due to the mods, which is why I passed.
So what kind of times are you guys seeing? This truck felt like mid 15's at best.

Message: the average is high 13's to low 14's, there are a few that are in the 13.6's with just a blower.
