I originally liked the idea of Kenny Bell SC, thinking that it would take place of the manifold (like most roots/screw style blowers). There would be one less thing to upgrade (no need to buy/port a manifold) and it will have a very direct air path (throttle body, SC, engine – all stacked up on top of each other) Well, that was until saw one installed and realized just how wrong I was…

I am sorry, but the only way that I can describe their pipe/airflow routing would be as “GOOFY”. The SC is residing on above the PS header, the throttle body is above the DS header, so the air has to travel across the motor to get to the SC and then make 180deg turn on its way to the intake.

I realize that ATI has an even “goofier” pipe routing, but at least they do it for a good cause: to plumb an intercooler. I just do not understand what KB engineers were thinking... So I ended up buying an ATI Procharger.

Really at 7 PSI threw a 4" tube the air flow is not efected at all if you have to pull a manafold you have gastets to replace and a change of presure leak. The only Postive displacement out there is the Screw type KB Pro Charger does not make a kit for the 4.7 the KB uses no intercooler as it is a pull threw and not a push...

Just a Heads up on this I checked with my local dealer who I have bought 4 Dodge trucks threw the years and 3 Cars for my wife. Also I want to find out what is the skinny about add ons Performance or Racing parts are concidered to be non-DaimlerChrysler Corp Parts. repairs and adj caused by them are not covered.. but it does not say you cannot put them on or that they will void your power train Wart. I then talked to Warren Mich. they said go for it.. My Dealer told me to bring it by after I install it and they will check it out to see . more or less it is up to them to determine if the add on will cause a problem but the said that they believed not,as this was my 3 Dak. I had mod. them all with Headers and Computer changes.. the 88 I put in a limited slip. just measured the lash and when I reinstalled set it at the same. So if you have a Dealer that your in good standing with,I would believe that even a S/C would be OK.. mine is.

I noticed that for my California 2003 Dakota R/T the Kenne Bell S/C is the only Smog legal item I can find, in the list at the ARB site: Http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php
I hope other items get updated to include the 2003 R/T 5.9, but many parts are listed up either to 1997, or at best to 2002. I know it is the same truck to you and me... but the Smog Guru's see things differently. You would think
without smog you could see things more clear, Though (apparently) it is not that clear to them. Oh I guess it's because the 2003 has a different ECU, but can it be changed? Should it be?

Leon, the Dakota inlet is all on the driver side and a more direct set up the Inlet tube does not cross the Eng. It hooks to the TB and then the TB hooks to the Blower inlet.. I for one cannot see how this would be gooft .. the design is to keep everything under a stock hood with out Goofy-ing up your hood. The 4.7 is a diff. bird than the 5.9 or the 5.2

As far as safety it has 3 means to protect your engine and takes no time to spin up to rpm because of the screw design max boost right of idle, and when not needed it goes into bypass to save fuel, but put your foot in it and it will smoke my 16"X 9.50 wide tires
It cost more but well worth the extra money.. It has it`s own oil system NOT ENGINE OIL another plus,in my book

334FTLB @ 4700
the boost bounces around between 6-8 at full petal to the metal..
There was some more tuning on the Dyno.. done between the runs
I got the Iuirdum Plugs
cold thermostat
5" open core muffler
NO headers.
Cleaned up intake ports a bit..
But KB Manfiold not radiused inside
All that can be done has been done..
and when I found that GM offered a HP crate motor with the Powdered Metal rods I now feel better about them as I can find no spec`s on them.
still sorry about my spelling.

Best 1/4 was 13.5 @ 98
Next time I will run slicks as I can borrow a set. and lighten it up some. I got no wheel spin as the track was very sticky and very hot the Humity and temp were also high. any one who has done the fuel pump mod to get more fuel let me inow I don`t want to spend another $200.00 to KB

This is not the Durango vs Dakota thing, they are identical under the hood. The difference is in the engine, as you said, 4.7 is a totally diffirent engine, my comments were regarding a 5.2/5.9 and apperently didn't apply to the 4.7. Sorry about the confusion.
