i need to know if there is a difference in the TB position between these two intakes. basically, will an intake tube for a stock intake bolt up and fit in the engine bay properly with the HO intake?

There are no differences externally. They are identical.

why would you want to lose torque?

I have not noticed any torque loss. I also added the HO cams without any loss of torque...by my butt dynometer. The addition of heaps (and I means HEAPS) of horsepower makes the HO parts definetly a plus, and worth buying. The only people that seem to grip about the loss of torque are people that don't have them installed. You will be astonished by the difference, especially if you have the 3" exhaust and hi-flow muffler. If you want some Hi-Res pictures of the install just drop me an e-mail. Note: Its about a 8mb e-mail, but some great shots.

Dr Dakota..that is very odd, almost all other posts relate that the addition of the intake took away much of the torque gained by the cams alone...do you think somehow the addition of 3 inch exhaust somehow compensates for the torque loss?

No torque loss when adding the intake. It just flattens the curve for our trucks. More torque at all available RPM. I don't have a 3" exhaust, but rather true duals with the removed third cat.

2THEXTREM- I'll blast those out to you tonight when I get home!
Ian- I would guess that the 3" exhaust would cause a loss in torque. More air into the engine usually doesn't effect torque, only allows the enging to produce more HP (if cams etc can utilize the increase in air). The air leaving the combustion chamber is a different story. A little back pressure helps the exhaust valves close, thus letting the combustion-expansion be more efficient, thus torque. But that effect is only at the very beginning of the cycle, so I would guess the effect wouldn't be that great.

Maybe if I had added the cams, then the intake later I could have noticed more torque, then the torque go away....but I did both cam and intake at the same time and all I have to say is that the torque and horsepower are way way way higher than stock. And since the two are designed to be used together...and installing the intake is so easy when doing the cams, I preach do them both!
