Subject: A/C mod nets 50hp!!! IP: Logged
Message: Yes, I was dreaming hard last night ... but the mod incorporated a bypass vent from my A/C routing all the cold air into the Intake by the flip of a switch. It dynoed a 50hp increase. I awoke to an open window in the room which I'm sure triggered this dream...kinda cool up here at night. Needless to say, I couldn't go back to sleep.
Can I get a Hmmmmmmm?

Message: Actually it might give you around 2-3 HP but you have to take into account the amount you lose by turning on the AC. Dreams rule.

Message: I once had a dream that I was eating a carrot and awoke to a sharp pain in my finger. When I woke up, I had seriously bit into my finger and drew blood. Sorry, I know its off topic but while we were on dreams... But anyways, the idea had merit, but like bigtymer said, the effect of parasitic drag from the a/c comp. would outweigh the benefits. However, ask Bernd about his "Cool-tube" sometime. That was an interesting idea.

Message: HMMMMMMMMMMMM
I have a lot of dreams about winning the lottery and waking up rich, and never having to work a day in my life again, but...
Seriously though, I have pondered the concept of using a/c to "intercool" turbo or roots-type supercharged applications. I have throw the subject out on a couple of popular internet Mopar boards with very little response. The detractors think that the power needed to turn the a/c compressor(s) would be more than the extra horsepower produced from the process.
I do believe that a compact and efficient artificial intercooler may be workable....
Just something to think about.

Message: this has nothing to do with dreams but i have had alot of thoughs, man dreams are crazy wish some came true.well sense ya'll are talking about a/c thought i would not start a new tread and ask ya'll guys, alot of people that have dakotas have taken off the clutch fan and just have the electric but it wont come on unless you have the a/c on so when you take that of how does your motor get air, when your motors starts getting hot do you turn the a/c on.i heard when you take it off and your motor gets so hot your electric fan automaticly turns on if so what temp. does it turn on at?

Message: Mustangs have the same prob due to the fan switch being part of the pcm. im removed my A/C saved 30lbs and a bit of Power. If you get an aftermarket fan they almost always come with there own thermostat, so you only have to wire the fan to key on power. but on the same token the more elect you use the more drag on the alternator too.

Message: i forget who but someon was workin on what they
had called the "cool tube" they coiled a ac line
through the piping of a coldair intake so it ran
through the cooler pipe before hitting the engine.
i saw that awhile ago. and i forget where but
since the topic was slightly on it.......

Message: 2 things. My dad used to take his fuel line and put a bunch of coils in it (looked like a coil spring) then he put the in a coffee can under the hood. Then you fill the can with ice. The result was cold fuel and knocked a couple 10ths off his 1/4 times. The other you can do is if you have a CAI, put another half pipe or a box with no top on it and put some ice in there. Do this on a cold motor about 5 minutes before a run so the tube will get cold too. This would increase the power a bit.

Message: midnightdak, the stock elec fan somes on around 210ish, on my 4.7, it rarely ever comes on without the a/c being on, especailly in the winter. since my viscous fan removal, the gauge has never went past 1/2 way.
