Well if this Police/Fleet package only does change Torque Management,Rev Limiter and Speed Limiter, there may be some advantages but it does it affect timming and fuel deliver curves which are what would increase HP.

Just got my truck back from being at the dealership for about 10 days. I went on vacation and decided to drop her off to utilize the extended warranty as I am at 65K miles.

Symptoms:
1. Pinging after 3000rpms regardless of gas station or grade of gas.

2. Speed Sensor needs replacing due to ABS/Brake lights remaining lit.

3. Popping noise from front end in turns.

4. Transmission pan gasket leaking.

Belt Tensioner squealing.

Note: I did everything possible to rid the pinging prior to dropping off. ie..cap/rotor, 3923 plugs, Taylor wires with reroute, 180 TStat, Cleaned TB, fuel additves(Dry Gas, injector cleaners, Octane Boost), and various gas stations/grades.

Work done:
1. Replaced both upper control arms due to ball joints.
2. Replaced speed sensor.
3. Transmission service with new gasket.
4. Induction service to clean injectors.
5. Replaced PCM as this was found to be causing pinging. Last two letters are AG...can't remember what they were before.
6. Front end alignment.

Note: Very surpised the pinging was due to the PCM and NOT the belly pan gasket as I suspected even though I could not see any oil in the pan and oil consumption was about a quart every month.

Results:
Butt Dyno tells me performance is about the same as it was before the pinging so I guess the AG is like the latest flash for the 99 R/T model. I could be wrong though but that's what they gave me.

Engine runs great/smooth all the way up to 5000rpm so far. Dropped the gas grade down to 87 on my way to work this a.m. to ensure it would not ping on the cheap stuff as well and it ran just as smooth. On my next fillup of 87 I will re-attempt to use my Hypertech III and post the results. And no, the HyperIII did not cause the PCM malfunction before as it was pinging prior to that setup.

I have a '02 QC with ~7000 miles. I also get a popping noise from the right front suspension area, very rarely when I am turning on a street, sometimes when I am going over the speedbumps in my townhouse complex and frequently when I lock the steering wheel, such as reversing out of a parking spot etc.

BallJoints(BJs) are covered under both standard and extended warranties. If you hear the pop in turns it is most likely the BJs and I wouldn't hesitate to use your warranty. They are not greasable so DC is at fault for assuming they would last at least through the warranty period...standard or extended. Also, for those who are under 36K miles and do not currently have the extended warranty to 100K miles....get it before you reach 36K unless you plan to do one heck of alot of mods...you won't regret it. For me, I have decided to do my MAJOR mods after 100K miles. 35K miles to go until the Blown 408/Tremec/other goodies need to be ready.
