Subject: welp, I give up IP: Logged
Message: I'm no longer going to try to mod the truck, instead, I am looking for an old dodge charger, cheap, under a grand, anyone know where I can pick one up? I'm looking to restore and drop in my 440, messin with my R/T and keeping it legal is too much of a pain in the azz with this polution control.

Message: Initially just a cam and intake, the cams I looked at were not pollution legal, ultimatly a stroker, but, I can forget that living in TX. For the most part, all I can see a person can do is throttle body, nitrous, super charger, man, I want high compression with a lumpy cam, headers.. oh well. I just can't see paying 6 + grand to get a supercharger setup when I have a 440 and just need a body for it. This freakin computer stuff pisses me off too.

Message: If the cam isnt legal , how will they know its in there ? Same with heads , I doubt the monkeys that work there know the difference.
Just have to have a good catalytic converter and run it lean. Hopefully all the unburnt fuel wont make it out the tailpipe.
Dont think you have to worry about passing the visual , its usually the Hydrocarbons are too high.
Anyway , good luck with that 440. Thats a helluva motor

Message: well, I'm leavin the r/t stock, maybe some nitrous down the road if I got some scratch left over, hell, I dont' plan on living in TX 4 ever. 440 would be sweet as hell in dakota if you could get her to bolt up. I watched the people at the inspection place stick the sniffer in the pipe, at that moment I knew I could forget a lumpy cam. I dont' want to risk it, I'll find a charger or something to put it in.

Message: You shouldn't give up on the 440 Dak idea yet. Where there is a will, there is a way. You know you if you start your conversion just after you have an emissions test you can have all kinds of time to come up with a way to make it pass by the next time you have to do an emissions check. build the engine the way you want it, find a 727 automatic tranny and build that as well. By the time you have all of the components needed to do the swap you should be ready for another emissions test. then right after that do the swap.

Message: Oh yeah, they dont do emmisions on 97 and up cars, this is all they do. plug into your computer and check for mil lights, and just a quick look to see if there is a cat. Thats it. They dont hook up crap to the tail pipe no more. The last one I got legaly all he did was put the computer hook up and thats it, took a look under ir and I was done. If your familuar with Irving, go to a lil shop on Irving blvd.

Message: I'd love to hook up with some DFW street races, it'll be a while before I have the 440 burnin, I have the engine, but it needs punched out to 60over (444 :-)) with some 11:1's and so on. By the time its done I should have all of this pollution stuff figured out, or have a charger lined up for it. My concern with the puttin a 440 in a dak is dang, you'd have to gut it all, I talked with a guy out of florida and everything on the 2002 is computer, everything. by the time I'd be ready to drop it in, I'd have 3 years left on my payments.. hehe. Maybe I could find a kota that was crashed or engine blown or something to save my baby from a gutting..

Message: Dumb question... how does the suspension on a Dak gonna clear the 440? I know that the 4wd Dak's have torsion bars... but 2wd have the upper control arm where the 440 exhaust ports would be... Oh well with enough $$$$$$ anything is possible. How about a 4wd 440 DAKOTA 4dr with a 4spd and 4 gods sake... let us prey, on the poor unfortunate Fords out there... YEAH!

Message: Ahh, Intenste is the Man. That is what I've been wanting to see! I don't know how to figure between liters and CID is 6.6=383? Any ways went junkyarding yesterday and found a treasure, an old Charger under a pile of crap with the engine in it after an hour of digging' It is a big block!! He is going to use a forklift to dig it out this week I am not positive yet but I think its a 426 Hemi He said I can have it for 100 bucks. I hope its in decent shape.
