Guys,
I have to vent...
After everything that has been going on the last few months with Bernd and myself, something else had to happen...
As many of you know, I started design work on The turbo systems with SpeedTweaks late last year... The result of this design work was realized in the form of Project R/T-2(also known as R/T2, R/Tē, R/T subscript 2 or any variation of it).
It seems that the owner of the R/T that we installed the test twin-turbo package into is not only claiming that the logo "R/Tē" was his own design and intellectual property and that it is the sole property of BigNuts Motorsports, LLC.
He has also claimed the following: "Further more, BigNuts Motorsports built this truck with your help."
BULLSH1T!!!!!!!!!
All he did was drop the truck off, give us a deposit for a percentage of the parts, and then bitched for the next 4 months... Bignuts Motorsports didn't have sh1t to do with any part of the designing, building, or installing of the twin-turbo system at all!!!!
As part of our agreement with him, He was required to give us feedback on the system, do testing with it(drag race and dyno), and most importantly he was to show it at the Houston Mopar Show and Race... The only times we got feedback was when he blew a headgasket from hotrodding the truck(doing burnouts in parking lots, street racing, etc.) He only took it to be dynoed once, only once did he take it to the drag strip(after a little prodding from me), and he didn't show up to Houston at all!!!!!!!!!!!!
We gave him a lot of free upgrades that we didn't have to...and did a lot of free labor that we didn't have to...
He still owes us a decent sum of money for the Electronic boost controller that he is refusing to pay for because it is not working.... BULLSH1T!!!!! IT works just fine....
We told him a few things that he still needed to do, but he doesn't listen...
Beware!!!!
Yes, Bernd and I have had our problems, but this guy is a major piece of work!!!

I met that guy out at Keller's Hamburgers here in Dallas and he seemed like a pretty cocky guy. I'm not surprised he's saying his company built it w/ your help.
It takes a man to give credit where credit is due.

If this person representing this company has the nerve to treat someone like this, I would not want to have any dealings with him or the business in question. I feel for you and Bernard for having to deal with this person.
If he says that the boost controller isn't working and will not pay for it, ask him to come back and remove it from his truck. that will fix him.

Tom, hopefully you have a contract with this guy and documentation of your design (sketches, Autocad dwgs, calculations, etc...). If so, THEN SUE HIS ASS for breach of contract, nonpayment of funds and theft of technology. Put a mechanic's lein on his truck ASAP. Call a patent atty (bound to be plenty in Round Rock) and get an app filed as well.

hay Tom, long time since I have posted anything on this sight. But what I have been reading so far is not good for you and bernd. Not to insult your intellagence, but why did you guys use an outside source for a test vehicle. You have an 8 in your truck, and bernd has the six. You guys coulda put the twin system on yours and the single on his. Where you guys just interested in seeing on how it would of ran with the obd 3 that the r/t has or what? All the bullsh!t that is being slung at you guys does not sound to good. Trust me I hear this sh!t every day being in the home loan business.
I have sold my dak since I posted something on haer last. I was kinda hoping You would of been finished with the single 6 system by now , but with all the crap that is going on, I know you guys have other issues you have to direct. I am moving along with my 68 charger. Got the rack in pinion in and all the bugs worked out of it. I am going to start upgrading the brakes now and some of the smaller detail stuff before it gets painted. By the way I ordered a new NEON SRT-4, to replace the dak. Should be getting it in about a month. All I can say is good luck with the situation and get a good lawer to sew the crap out the a$$hole that ownes the r/turd.

I have heard/read that (if it is the same guy), there isn't too many r/t2's out there but that he sold the white one that the turbos were put on and bought a 02 R/T. I beleive I read it on the NWDRT club yahoo board.

There is only one truck with the R/T-2(also known as R/T2, R/Tē, R/T subscript 2, etc.) Twin Turbo Package(designed and built by SpeedTweaks) on it, and that is Maxx's truck...

Tom Slick, if it were me I know what I would. From what I think I read there apparently wasn't a written contract only a verbal one. And he probably doesn't have any reciepts for purchases or labor performed. If not, I would just wait for him to break it again. Let him bring it back and THEN promtly dissembly the twin turbo and various components that belong to you and tell him to come pick up his truck. If he does have receipts for certain items, toss in the front seat of the truck. If he doesn't have proof, then I would get what is mine. Nice people get taken advantage of and I think you know what I mean unfortunely.
Bernd and you are nice guys from what I have seen on this website. The both of you take up so much of your time giving advice and making yourself advailable on this website. I don't think some people appreciate what the two of you do. All that grieve that Bernd has got lately. Apparently some people don't realize how much time it takes to answer e-mail, post responses on the website, talk to customers on the phone, talk to customers at the shop, talk back and forth with venders about ordered parts, returning the wrong parts sent by venders, etc., etc., etc. It is a wonder there is any time left in the day for you to do any work at all. A friend of mine is a professional engine builder. Between talking to customers about their engines, trying to keep up with ordered parts for customers, returning the wrong parts sent, people walking in off the street to talk about a potential job that he may or may not get, giving people advice on their engine build that they ar working on AT their house, the phone, etc. there are days where he doesn't get anything done to amount to anything. His day starts at 9 in the morning and he closes up at 10 at night every night. So I can feel for you guys. I know what the two of you are going through and I started to respond a while back and tell Bernd that I think it is time to quit logging on this website to give free advice and start concentrating on the business more. There is only so many hours in a day and when the day is over you still have a life to live. With all that has happened to Bernd with his personal life, I think it is a shame that he had to tell everyone about his troubles when they came down on him. He was looking for a little understanding and you see what he got instead. Don't try to please everybody because as you see you can't do it. Please take care of this BigNuts guy please. I can tell you he is very lucky that he didn't do me like that. Smoke is coming out my ears and I have nothing to do with it. Knowing how nice of people you guys are I shudder to think what action if any you take against him. You can't let him take advantage of you and not do something about it because that will only invite the same type of people to do the same. Good luck Tom. I hope you get this straightened out.
That patent idea might be the way to go if nothing else works. He probably doesn't have the brains to explain how it works on a peice of paper or to draw it up. I be willing to bet that.

so i guess the same aplies to you. did you talk to him before you "vented"?
are you guys going to make another TT truck soon? if not, and IF you cant do anything leagly, i wouldnt worry about the name of the truck. why not name it TWIN TURBO R/T?

Maxx posted to his Yahoo group 4 days ago that he has been unable to reach either of you by phone or email and his messages are not being returned.
Always 2 sides to a story, I guess.
Has this $7+k turbo job(which still does not run right) really been reduced to squabbling over some percentage of a $300 boost controller?
I'm at a loss to understand why either side wants to reserve rights to something which has yet to be proven. You can't patent the damn thing and anybody stepping up to the plate to buy one without understanding the tuning issues still facing it should have their head examined, IMO.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I have spent about 2 years and $10,000 on an idea that I am patenting. Go to patentcafe.com it should be most helpful to research your problem.
I don't think they have a leg to stand on if they are claiming that the idea of putting twin turbo's on a Dakota is thier unique idea. There are many other vehicles around with twin turbo setups. A patentable idea has to be "unique", putting twin turbos on an engine has been done many times, even though it might have not been done on a Dakota, so this idea is not unique. Furthermore they are going to get themselves in alot of trouble if they claim that the RT2 was thier invention if you can document that you installed it on thier truck. I am sure you can come up with invoices, sketches and so on proving that you purchased the parts, installed the setup and charged this guy for the work.
If they are claiming that the RT2, R/T2, whatever, is thier trademark, I think it's a first come first serve basis. Whoever trademarks it first, gets the trademark.
Iam not a patent lawyer, don't even make close to $125/hour, but have done enough research into patents to know that this won't fly.

one more thing that i dont get... when someone "vents" out about speedtweaks, they get the "why dont you talk it out with them" speech. now tom vents about a customer, and (almost) everyone backs him up. what kind of a double standard is that?
