Subject: sway bars? IP: Logged
Message: hi all-
got an 88 std cab dak that is currently finishing up on the 4bang to 318 swap. the truck seems to like to roll a bunch in and out of turns (before the added weight of the swap). i was wondering if there is a sway bar kit for these years of dakotas. or maybe a later year came with them from the factory and they'll interchange? any help is much appreciated. :)
thanks

Message: The coils should be different for the different engines. You need a spring with a higher spring rate. Try a set of V8 springs. I am not sure if they are different, but it's something to check on for sure. Would cost less than a sway bar too.

Message: hay bud, first the v8 springs out of a second gen dak will work. And also the gen2 sports did come with a 1 1/8" front sway bar. So yes you can get this sfuff from a local bone yard. Also if you are going to plan on rdiving this thing a little agressive you might want to go with a stiffer spring.

Message: Yes you can get a sway bar out of a 87-96 2wd dak. but you need the frame mounted brackets from a 87-90 as the bolt holes that mount the brackets to the frame horns are a different pattern on the 91-96. Also a set of the 2wd V8 springs from 91-96 helps a bunch but a sway bar is a good start. I have dones this and recommend it.
