Nathan, your best bet, financially, is to find a truck with the engine you want already in it.

Your next best bet is to find a wrecked '98 with a v-8, and transfer all the parts over.

My first suggestion may cost you LESS money in the long run, as well as save you a lot of aggravation and down time.
