Depends on how much boost you want to run. I'm not sure about the 3.9, but the 4.7 can handle about 6lbs stock. If you want to go higher, you should consider heavy duty head gaskets and studs.

2000 4.7 CC auto, clear corners, Magnaflow catback, Kenne Bell s/c.

it can handle 9 pounds without a gasket change. You would have to cut out or push in your passenger side fender well just a little because the supercharger will rub against it... it sits closer to the firewall on the V6 than the V8... damn those extra cylinders!!!!

Actually, the 4.7L could easily support up to 10 PSi without any drastic changes whatsoever.

I was running 10# on my V6 along with a 40HP shot (dry shot) of Nitrous. This was on FACTORY head gaskets. (My stupidity killed the block but the heads were fine - too much nitrous for too long of a time frame...but I still kicked the other cars a$$.) ;)
