Subject: checked out a 350 Z tonight IP: Logged
Message: well, i went to the local rice dealer tonight, and checked out the new nissan 350 Z. all i have to say is DAMN i want one!!
with 287 hp, 6 speed gearbox, (which feels shorter and more positive than the new miata's), RWD, brembo breaks, and a 53/47 weight distribution, what more can you ask for?
the only bad thing was the 11k dealer mark up! OUCH! i can see paying the 31K sticker (and even then i never pay sticker), but 42k is kinda high.
made me kinda want to part out the truck and get one.
-Eric Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown. 5.2L, 5speed. Powerdyne SC, 50mm TB, 2bbl M-1, 1.7RR's, MSD 6BTM, ciramic JBA headers, carsound cat, dumped gibson

Message: Yeah , they are very cool lookin. But I think it should have a little more HP than 287. I saw a 32K sticker at a dealer near me. Import sporty cars are always thousands more than an American comperable car. ( Mustang , Camaro , T/A)
Keep your truck , man , and mod the hell out of it. You`ll be able to smoke Charlie and his girlfriend in his new 350Z.

Message: Personally I think they are ugly as sin. They look like an overgrown tiburon. The design was supposed to take the lines of the 240z, but I really dont see it. I am a z enthusiast, owning quit a few in my time. We just sold my wifes 86 300 turbo with 50,00o miles on it, because we had a baby and it was a little small. I am keeping my eye out for a 240z.

Message: I think the new Z is to heavy. When the 240Z hit our shores it changed the sport car market. They were light, fast and bulletproof. The only problems were rust.
I have had 2 240Z's and an 82 280ZX Turbo. You could really suprise some other cars with the 240. Very fast and fun to drive.

Message: i dont know, 287 HP out of a NA v6 is pretty impressive in my book.
the 11k markup will go away when the demand gets lower. for 40+k i would rather have a audi S4 with the 6speed, or save a little more and get the new M3...drool
i love my truck, and anyother fast truck, but i am a sportscar guy at heart

Message: I walked into a Ford dealer yesterday to get a part for my other pickup (that I'm trying to sell), and they had a new, bright yellow SVT Cobra Mustang convertible sitting on the floor. I went over to look at it, and the sticker said $38K. Off to the side, on the little dealer add-on sticker, it said, "Dealer Markup $4,000"...$42K for a Mustang with a cheesy Ford plastic interior. SVT or not, that's insane. Makes the $42K Z sound almost rational...

Message: I've tried to find ways at affording the insurance on a 94 300ZX 2dr, but no luck. I actually like the new Z, but then again, I didn't grow up with them as much as other people have. Maybe they plan on having a 350Z TT or something?

Message: What package was the Z? I think they come in 4 kinds. Enthusiast, performance, touring, and track. Track has the hardest suspension, thus makes it the best (but pricey).

Message: they had the track, and a performance.... they were about the same price, because the performance had $8500 worth of " upgraded tire and rim package"... WAAAAY TOO much for 18's!!

Message: I think they are very nice cars indeed. However I would hate to see what my insurance would be like with my record of tickets 5 pages long all for speeding...lol Plus I would never pay markup on a car and I have only ever saw the dealer markup sticker in CA at dealerships...is this a common thing where you are at? I have not seen that in Michigan.
In CA my friend and I told the dealer we would not pay a "markup" fee and he said what fee we will take that off...will you buy it now "Mustang Roush Edition stage 2"!! Needless to say we were there just for test drives and then left...funny how they drop the markup fee so fast in CA when questioned about it...makes me wonder how many in CA just say oh okay and buy the car anyways...lol

Message: They won't make a twin turbo version, but they are supposed to make a single turbo version that will push right at 400 (maybe more). That's after the convertible, so 2-3 model years away for the turbo. I like the new design, but markup always sucks. Depends on who you know to get the right price I guess.

Message: yeah anything that is in demand gets marked up. the pt cruser had a 16k sticker, but dealers were selling them for 32k! they WILL NOT mark them down, because the know somone will pay for it. you just have to wait untill the demand goes away, and the dealers take the markup off.
all dealers are differant though. i have seen vipers with a 15k markup, and the next dealer over, sells it at sticker.
bottom line is, you just need to be patient and shop around!
