Subject: My brakes are already shot IP: Logged
Message: Hey I have a 2001 4.7L and I only have 25,000 miles on it and my front roters are shot. I heard that they were going to wear quick but I had no idea that it would happen so soon. Anyway I was wondering if any one new of some good roters to put on it. Thanks Chase

Message: If you have to replace them, I would probably go with a set of cross drilled rotors.

Message: I think I remember seeing someone post regarding Raybestos rotors...heavy duty or something like that, available at most auto parts stores.

Message: 25,000 isn't that bad from most horror stories on the boards. I've read a lot of 15,000 mile stories where the rotors were shot
I've got almost 21,000 and still going strong (knock on wood)

Message: mine were gone at 16,000. I guess the
powerbraking at the end of the 1/8th track
every week didnt help.

Message: 43,000 on mine and they're still good. But on the road I've been told I drive only slightly faster than your average blue-hair from Florida

Message: I just had them turn the rotors the first time they started pulsing really bad. They've had some minor warping since then, but it comes and goes. I've got 66k on my 2k 4.7 QC now and had my brakes inspected before moving to Texas towing a trailer. According to the inspection, my front pads have only worn down on the order of 3/32. They're practically at a new pad thickness while the rears still measure new. They're all still the origonal break pads. Maybe that would explain why my braking seems like it really sucks.....
