Message: Well priceing is all over the place with Amsoil items. You can save alot buy shoping around. It is normaly priced at $7.50 witch is what Amsoil recomends it's distributors sell it for. That is full mark up!! You can normaly get it cheaper at flea markets, swap meets and sporting events. The only way to get a good price is to become a prefered customer or dealer. While I like their products I hate their marketing strategy's. I basicly think that if for $20.00 dollars a year they can give you a good price on the product and turn a profit then they ought to give you that price all the time with out the silly $20.00 customer fee! P.S. Even with full mark up their product is cheaper and better then dealerships price for semi-synthetic ATF+4. So my point is purely one of princeapal.

Message: The cost of AMSOIL Synthetic ATF is $5.70
(Preferred Customer) and $7.55 (Retail). I save
$22.20 on a case of AMSOIL ATF just by being a
Preferred Customer; plus I can purchase all of
their other products which are just to numerous
to list at about a 20-30% savings.
My Fiance' likes the company magazine that I
recieve with my Preferred Customer status and
both He and I wish that other companys would do
what AMSOIL is doing; We would GLADLY pay NAPA or
any other company $20.00 per year to get a 20-30%
price break !!

Message: NikkiDoodle, While I agree to a degree that it would be nice to save 20%-30% due to membership saveings like "SAM" and "Cosco" on all my consumables with Amsoil it is a bit different. With other membership clubs you are saveing money on various name brands and products not made by the club. With Amsoil they have total control over their priceing. Amsoil is not the middle man giveing you a break due to bulk purchaseing. If they can sell it to you for $5.70 and make a profit then that should be the price to everyone all the time!!! The two tier priceing is just plain wrong! IF they want to charge me for a good magizine then fine. I doubt that Amsoil even gets any of that $20.00 fee. I think it goes into the pocket of the sponsor because I have seen some sponsors give away the prefered membership free up front. The sponso gets commision on everything you purchase as a prefered customer so Amsoil corperate makes money and the guy that signed you up gets a check as well!! So this prefered membership is not the kind value added thing you think it is. If convention oil cost $.10 to $.35 to make per quart and synthetic cost 4 times as much to make then you are still looking at $.40-$1.40 a quart to make. This includes all the marketing functions as well. So they decide to charge you $7.50 a quart for something that cost them $.40-$1.40 to make but wait if you give us $20.00 up front we will sell it to you for $5.70. I am guessing that Amsoil dealers are paying $2.80-$3.50 a quart and then the mark up is their profit. Nothing wrong with makeing money I just hate to see two tier priceing strages for consumers. It reminds me of Amway and other direct marketing or direct sales stragies. You might remember that their were alot direct marketing companys tied in with pyramid schemes in the 1980 and early 1990's. I am not accuseing Amsoil of anything illegal or shaddy. I just expect alot from small American business when they use Pro-American material in sales brouchers. If my oil test prove Amsoil to be clearly better I will consider the membership and just get over the nasty taste the fee leaves in my mouth!!! P.S. I already use their products.
