Message: kota318 .... dude , thats awesome ! awesome his girlfriend was with him when you beat him. I raced a T/A and lost (not by much) and the guy was with his girlfriend. We stopped and the next light and I looked over and nodded like - good race , man. All they did was eye me and my R/T up and down and kind of snicker as if was an idiot. I bet she thought he was so cool at my expense.
So , good job man. It sucks to lose a street race.

Message: The night I got back from Topeka after the 01 R/T club meet, I pulled back into indianapolis about 1 oclock in the morning and this riced out maxima with a huge ass wing (as if there is any other kind) pulled up and started blowing his sh-t pipe, as they're normally known to do prior to losing a race :P.
So he pulls up, revs the engine, and I figure well im hungry anyway so ill race him down to dunkin donuts. (gives me a real reason to pick up the pace a bit) So light turns green, I could barely here his rotten ass pipes over the sound of my tires, and take off about I'd say alittle over an 8th of a mile up to dunkins. Anyway I let off all the way roll the window down and wave as I turn on my right turn signal (a good distance in front of him) and he of course does the infamous ricer pass right before I could turn into dunkins.
I dont think he liked me smiling at his girl friend at the light :).
Keep in mind the irony behind all of this is that on my way out to Topeka, while I was in the caravan, a guy rear ended me. So, I was driving a truck with a smashed rear end, I had just driven over 600 miles, I dont think there was an inch of exposed paint left on my vehicle from all of the bug juice, and on top of that all I was running at the time was the PCM.

Message: How disappointing to see a decent around-town car like the Maxima be sh!t on by a ricer.
Speaking of horrible exhausts. Hondas sound like an crippled bumble bee. However, have you ever heard some of the Subarus with the Boxter engine and a nice aftermarket muffler? I am not joking when I say it's actually pretty damn cool. I was always expecting a ricey sound from them, but instead it's a pretty deep grunt. From someone with a V8 turndown, I give the Soobies the thumbs up! Honda should take a hint, V-TEC is mostly label.

So if you ask me... I'd rather have the Best looking truck out there (dak ofcourse) and have paid WAY less for it... maybe knowing that.. won't make it so painful to put some money under the hoold of your wicked looking truck that carries the DODGE emblem.

My question is if you get down to specific dollar ammounts between the lightening and the R/T wouldnt it even it self out??
Lightening = 32000+800 = mid 12's
5.9 R/T = 25000+7000 = ???
That puts it more into prespective...

Message: I went for my 3rd Lightning kill last Sat. some mexican dude talkin sh!t so I asked to race, then his buddy said he heard mine pull up and they said start it up so I did and they were thinkin about it at first cuz when they heard the cam, I could tell they were scared. Then they finally OKed it and we left the burger place to find a spot.
I was too anxious that night & blew it by roasting the tires all the way through 1st...but by the time they hooked up I was at his bumper but I stayed there the whole time till we let up at 110. 2nd time I was a little less anxious and my bumper stayed at his front tire.
So I was close on the 3rd kill!!

my friend drives a lightning and we were going somewhere together and we were racing. he kept driving even at about 60mph then nailing the gas to about 100mph then hitting the brakes the nailing the gas again. well it didnt seem that fast. i would think an R/T with the mods that some of you guys have would spank a lightning all over the road. lightnings run 13.8 stock i hear, true??? well from this lighting taking off it didnt seem like high 13's was very fast. the guy obviosly made my v-6 look like i was in reverse but god that thing was kinda gay imo.

| RE: lightning IP: Logged
Message: $7000 would do quite a bit to the 5.9L...if the parts are picked correctly for the application. There are several people on the R/T lists that run mid 13's naturally aspirated...one just hit high 12's with the addition of nitrous (along with other engine modifications). If you can do all the work yourself (no labor charges)...$7000 goes a long way. If you can't, count on up to $2500 on labor charges for heads/cam/intake/exhaust/nitrous (or S/C) installation.
Don't get me wrong here...but the engine in the "L" (not the regular F150's) is built to handle boost and quite a bit of abuse.
At least on our trucks...the windshield trim doesn't fly off at 130mph. (My neighor, down the street, watched it come apart on his '99 "L".) ;)

Message: Yeah I see what you mean about the "L" engine, reminds me of how the 3.8 in the GN worked as far as being able to handle what the turbo dishes out. (The 86'es and the 87'es anyway)
Trim tearing off eh?? I lived over in germany a couple years and drove a ford escourt at around 120mph (200 kph) on the autobahn and I dont remember the trim flying off lol. I guess they dont assume people will be driving a truck to that high a speed... (I dont see why not though when your pushing over 400 horse.)

Message: Ok, I'm a dak guy. I like my truck more than anything. But I also put respect where it's due and the Lightning deserves it. It may be more expensive than a dak but it's gonna be cheaper than the SRT-10(but a whoooolllle lot slower :) ) And I think "Ls" look good. I also got passed by one he was doing like 80 with no mufflers and the side exit. First time I've ever been scared just by sound. And I'm no expert but it would take one to beat a lightning with $7K. I know a guy who's getting deal on labor has a very worked out 408 and hasn't broken the sub 13 sec barrier yet.(13.03 I believe) If you want a fast prefabbed truck, it's not bad.

Message: I always liked the lightning until I bought a Dodge, although I still think the Lightning is a nice truck, but not worth gettin rid of my Dodge for. I havent raced a Lightning yet but from the ones I've seen, either they arent all they are made out to be, or the ones Ive seen just dont know how to drive. But I know if you were to look around at whats available for the 360 and pick up a few add-ons that work respectively, you could spank the lightning. My truck isnt up to where I want it yet, but its gettin there. Till I find a Lightning, its always fun eatin imports and sh*ttin rice, as well as Mustangs, havent lost to one yet.
