Subject: 3.9l 1/4 mile IP: Logged
Message: I just got back from Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. This was my first time to a a race track and was wondering how much the elavation affects your 1/4 times. I got in 5 runs with these being my times in order: 18.897, 18.821, 18.772, 18.762, and when i turned the OD off and lowered my tail gate i got a 18.937:( The temperature ranged from 55 to 49 degrees. Im guessing that the elavation was a little over a mile high but do these times seem consistant with my mods and elavaiton?
Thanks
Brian

Message: I don't know how the altitude would affect it. what were the other cars and trucks running that would be a good gage.

Message: I was at Bandimere last night with my 2001 Quad Cab 4X4 5.9L. I ran a best of 17.45 at 77.5 mph. This is .5 second faster than the last time out! I had the PCM replaced under warranty to fix a cruise control problem. The PCM was on back order for a week. I thought I might get lucky and get a newer software version (not the death flash I already had). Man, what a difference! My only mods are 3923s and a K&N fipk. Here's a link to a turbo Regal website with an altitude conversion chart.

Message: I ran my RC 4.7 4x4 at bandimere and it ran a 17.1. I had a homade intake and a flowmaster muffler, w3.55 gears. It was also over 90 degrees that day. With my new mods my truck should run mid 16's. The Colorado altitude realy slows down our trucks.

Message: My 97 CC 3.9 litre ran 17.5 last time out. I was expecting it to go much better because the tranny had been fixed since the time before when I ran a 17.3. I'm thinking the cat is causing a lot of restriction. I'm going out next weekend and my goal is to break into the 16s. I plan to take off the tailgate, put my stock wheels back on, take out the passenger seat, bedliner, spare tire. Some suggestions I have had include: using a short belt that bypasses the air, running without power steering, getting lighter rims (no way), running with a light gas tank, letting air out of the tires, putting air in the tires :)....
My solution was to buy a 360, I just need to get it installed.

I have a flame red Dakota. I don't think the weather will cooperate this Wednesday, rain/snow predicted. Only 2 test 'n tunes left for the season. Guess I'll have to buy the new G-Tech Competition.

Message: I would say that it's all altitude. I know when I go on vacation that when I hit the Appalachain Mts. that the truck downshifts way more often just because it can't get the air in to mix with the fuel well enough. So if you came down to closer to sea level you would see a lot of improvement.
