Subject: RELOCATING THE IFS SENSOR?

I'VE GOT SEVERAL QUESTIONS. FIRST, I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A COLD AIR INDUCTION KIT. DO I MAKE ONE AND SAVE MYSELF SOME MONEY, OR JUST SAVE UP AND BUY ONE. ALSO, I'VE SEEN SOME POST ABOUT RELOCATING THE IFS SENSOR FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TO THE AIR INTAKE TUBE. WHAT WILL THAT DO FOR ME?

That will give the computer a more accurate idea of the outside temp. Where it is now tje computer thinks the air is much hotter than it really is, so that means advanced timing and less fuel.

I think by relocating the IAT sensor there it will send the PCM a lower air temperature reading than it normally does. If the PCM 'thinks' the air is cooler (denser), it will make the air fuel ratio richer than normal to compensate. This may give you a mild increase in performance. It could also help if you have pinging problems.

NOW FOR THE FIRST ? DO I MAKE THE COLD AIR KIT MYSELF OR SAVE UP AND BUY ONE. AND IF I MAKE IT MYSELF, DO I LOCATE THE OIL BREATHER TUBE TO THE AIR INTAKE TUBE AS IT IS NOW STOCK OR PUT A SMALL OIL BREATHER FILTER ON IT?

I hear you can make a kit yourself that'll work pretty good on the 4.7. As for the oil breather, I would suppose that is up to you. I don't have a 4.7 so I can't say for sure...

But please... -please- stop typing in all CAPS! I personally find it hard to read and feel it makes the person typing look ignorant. Sorry, just my opinion.

The Intense Performance "Z" tubes have a little plug for the breather, but once after offroading i drove it around for about 100 miles before i noticed it was off.....nothing happened. Needless to say, I still keep it hooked up.
