Message: They work for some and not for others. I've heard some 4.7 owners say they don't do bad. That also goes for a few 5.2 owners and a few 3.9 owners. The only ones they don't do a thing for are us 5.9 owners.

Message: Hypertech: http://www.hypertech-inc.com/ will have a Power Programmer III for the 2001 4.7, due out in the summer. It reprograms your stock PCM, it is not a chip or PCM you swap in. Also allows you to restore factory specs to the PCM if you feel the need to do this, when bringing your truck in for service.
Here are some of the parms you can tweak for:
Top Speed Limiter
Transmission Shift Firmness
Transmission Shift Points
Engine Rev Limiter
Cooling Fan "On/Off" Temperature
Speedometer/Odometer Corrections for
Non-stock Tire Sizes and/or Gear Ratios
