I was at a light on my way to work it turned green and I heard tires squeling. I looked to my right and saw the olds spinning it's tires. So I said "what the hell." I started tipping in throttel faster then normal carful not to break the wheels loose on the dew covered black top until i was floored. I left him standing still. He did finaly pass me but not until I was going about 75 MPH then he started catching me and by 80 he was in front of me. Thats not bad for a heavy 2001 4x4 Quad Cab. If I knew I was going to race him I would have had my RPM up to 2100-2500 so my torque converter would have been stalled already. I did not even shift manualy I let the trany shift itself and even had OD on. All in all this is not a bad truck. P.S. Bone stock grocery getter.

i believe the Aurora has the 200 hp 3.8 liter that they put in the camaro. I raced a grand prix the other day (with the same motor) in my brother's jeep and beat it.... barely. Not too shabby considering his jeep has 4.10 gears and 33" tires. The lady was cool about it too... she was probably 40ish and at the next light she stuck her head out the window and said that we were throwing mud on her car and started laughing. My alero has the 180 hp 3.4 liter motor and that thing is like a little rocket ship. I have taken down many vehicles with it and its stock. My best victory was against a 80's Formula Trans Am with intake and exhaust mods.
he probably left you at 70 because of the gearing... if its anything like my alero its geared around a 2.73 pinion because that damn little car will do 90 mph in 2nd gear (auto).

either way good kill! or partial kill.

Aurora's have a V8. I think it's a 4.2 or 4.4.

Nope, it's the only engine available for it. Auto only, FWD.

The newer Olds are only good for, driving to the golf course, cruising around in florida and nightly Bingo!!

Everybody loves BINGO!

The Olds Aurora could be had with either the 4.0L V8 or the 3.5L V6. It has had 2 engine choices for 3 years now.

i just went to the aurora website and it only offered the 4.0 V8. But one thing i noticed is that they weigh 3803 pounds dry. Thats more than my truck.... Hey! not all newer olds are for doing that... i have a 99 alero and its a blast to drive... has a dealer installed razzi body kit with spoiler. I just raced a 4.7 or 5.2 auto dakota and beat it... not by much but i did. The guy kinda looked pissed but i am happy because i know my truck is faster than my alero!
