I bought my 97' used with duel exhaust. And what my mechanic calls growler exhausts.

I recomend that, because it sounds like a Harley.

1 3/4 may be too small, 2.25 will allow the engine to breathe better. You won't notice any more gains with a dual instead of a good two-into-one catback. I had a glasspack on my truck, it was loud and sounded good, but swapped it for a flowmaster which is quieter, still sounds good, but develops better power and more mpg. If you get a glass pack, look on the inside, if it is louvered it will cut power, if it is perforated, it won't.

Greg, If I were doing it, I would use 2.25 or 2.5 inch tubes. You didn't say what motor you have but under 2 inch is too small for anything and the smaller pipes will sound flat. For the deep sound go with bigger tubes. The amount and brand of muffling is up to you, your neighbors, and the law.
Good luck. :-)

I think I get the picture now. If you like the "cackle" sound, dual 1.75 should give you that sound. Going without mufflers will make it cackle even more. I ran a single 2.25 with no muffler on a 2.8 Ranger for about a year. It got some attention but I never had trouble with the local law. Gook luck. :-)
