Subject: CW duner others, reducing vacum to 4.7l IP: Logged
Message: subject basically sums it up If I understand correctly cowl induction hoods ram air ducts or scoops and an eram are designed to add cfm to the engine helping it rev faster and possible increase horsepower. example 4.7l requires 500cfm and you add 300cfm of forced air you reduce vacum and the amount the engine has to work to rev through the power band. correct?
My question is would it be worth me building an intake in the shape of a y that has a blower for a boat(300cfm there like $20) on one side of the y and a normal filter on one side. this way the blower would not affect air flow when off and in theory boast the cfm when turned on. Is this a worth while thing to try or is it extremely unorthodox? would it make a difference? bearnd said he saw a gain with his eram. wouldn't this be sort of the same thing as a cowl induction hood or ram air ducting?
all opinions welcome.

Message: Technicaly you aren't reducing vacuume you are increasing from atmospheric pressure. To do that you need the 300 CFM over top of the 500 needed when N/A. The only Problem is you have to jam it into the intake the fans you speak of probably flow nothing at even 1 psi. Bernd had the super E-ram (2 of them inline) they only made 1 psi. They are very powerful fans.

Message: If it doenst work you can try the hairdryer blower in the offtopic forum.LOL J/K
CW is right about the cfm above 500 thats why the ram air and cowl induction doesnt do anything but provide good looks and very minimal cooler underhood temps.
