Subject: Synthetic Diff. Fluid IP: Logged
Message: Sorry to drum up an old and tired topic but ...
I'm having troubles tracking down Amsoil synthetic oil for my diff. and tranny (5spd) .. so what are some other alternatives?
Is any GL-5 rated oil good enough or will it need the friction modifier? (Where can I get some friction modifier anyhow?)
How about any GL-4 for the tranny?
thanks.
and please don't turn this into a Mobil vs Castrol vs Amsoil vs Redline vs whatever thread guys.

I'll keep it simple.
Are you looking for "on-the-shelf" Amsoil,
email me your question & zip and I'll help.
If I can't find a retailer in your area,
I'll be glad to send you a catalog.
Not marketing here... just trying to help
as I've helped people locate "retailers" before.
Here is a decent thread (there are others):

Message: Canucker, I take that you are canadian with that name? There is a Amsoil warehouse in Edmonton for the west and toronto for the east and you can buy direct from them and Bruce what viscosity is the Redline MTL?

Message: Thanks guys. I'm from Calgary. I thought it'd be easier to find some here (being close to a million people here and all) but I can't find much of a selection at all.

Yes Canuker,
I responded to three emails from Canadians asking for the locations of "local dealers"; I'm assuming you mean "on-the-shelf" retail for convenience.
As per my response to your email, I need zip codes to narrow my search for a local dealer. I am awaiting your reply.
Your other option is to visit my website and request a catalog. ;-)

Message: (Art) To answer you question directly...
MTLŪ Manual Transmission Lubricant is a 70W80 GL-4 gear oil (SAE 5W30/10W30 engine oil viscosity)
Visit the REDLINE Web Site and read about the benifets that the synchronizers get from the REDLINE MTL. (Better shifting due to special friction charactoristics.)
