Subject: MSD 6A install IP: Logged
Message: Hello all,
I bought a msd 6a for my 2001 Dak R/T and I had a few questions for those who have installed them on magnum motors. First off do we need a tach adapter to make our factory tachs work w/ the unit? Also on the install the orange and black wires go to the coil and the red/white wires go to the cut wires the were originally going to the coil correct?
Thanks, Joey Molnar

Message: I just installed a MSD Digital 6 and I had to get a tach adapter. They are only $33 and it will keep you from getting a P0351 code. Next, you are correct on the install. The tach adapter will be spliced into the red and white wires. I would suggest mounting it in a place where it can get air. The adapter gets hotter than the ignition amp or the HVC coil I have. I moved my battery to the bed to get adequate space to mount the system. I fits perfectly in the battery tray and I can give you dimentions for a perfect heat shield. I have a 2000 R/T and I think it is the same for you. Sorry so long!
