I bought a used 2007 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 engine. The oil filter that is on it is not the same one shown in the parts books. It has a Pennsoil PZ 19 which is not what the books calls for but seam to work fine. The one the book calls for soea not look like it will fit.

dodge used the same oil filter on the 3.9, 5.2, 5.9, 4.7, 5.7 up to and including 2007 the mopar number for that was FE292. same filter was used on sebrings caravans for many years aswell. its kind of a short fat filter, i believe it has 3/4 inch thread. other filters would spin on there though.in 2008 they started changing things

I often us a motorcraft FL-1, or something like that. It's much bigger, and has never been a prob.

I also use the Wal mart brand oil filters also. I've just never run the lower grade Frams.

There was a post,(or several) years ago with links to independent oil filter tests. It seemed only about 2-3 companies made all the filters.
