Subject: exhaust question IP: Logged
Message: i currently have a 40 series on my 2001 v6. i cut the pipes right after the muffler which made my little v6 much deeper and louder. the problem is that its really loud inside, but its worth it. my question is would installing a turndown pipe affect the sound at all? i was thinking that it might not be so loud inside if the exhaust was pointed down instead of going straight out of the pipe.

Message: Yes, the exhaust resonates under the body, so a turndown or side exits would quite the cab down with out affecting the outside sound too much. Another option would be to Dynamat the cab, which will mae your stereo sound better as well.
