I wanted to get an opinion on what intake
would be better for my truck. The hood on my
truck is hollow fiberglass. The air comes in
through 2 scoops then out a hole under the
hood. There is a tube that meets the hole to
form a seal. It goes into the air box (K&N filter
in it) Do you think I should leave it like this or
get an open air cleaner directly underneath the
hole??? Does anyone know where would be a
good place to find something better to hook up
?????

There's actually a speed shop down here in Orange, CA, where I saw an airhat with two inputs that fit hoods like that. It has a filter built in it. Pretty slick, cold air induction.

I don't remember exactly how the filter fits on those but they fit. The airhat sits on top of your TB.

Hey Python ...

What brand hood did they put on your truck at the dealership? Might help the rest of us with what you're asking. I know how my Cervini's hood worked.

Any pics yet? I'd like to take a gander at this python package.

Seee ya

I dont really know what the cervini hood looks like. Picture a hood with two oval intake holes that go in through a hollow fiberglass hood then out one single 5 inch hole underneath. I have to get a digital camera. Its hard to explain everything. Then from the hole it goes into the tube that butts against the hood from underneath. The tube that connects to the hood dosent have any restrictive bends. It just hard to get it lined up when you close the hood. I never feel it perfectly aligned. Thats why I was asking about an open air element under the hole with some kind of heat blocks around it. Does changing the air hat allow you to flow more air into the engine?? Sorry for the long story but I need to know ITS KILLING ME AAAAHHHHHHHHH.

Thanks Guys

I just went to cervins web site. Its something like their hoods but they dont have the same style I have. Anyway its the same function. I just looking for a better way to get the air from the hood into the engine.
Thanks

Yeah, sounds like it's similar to the Cervinis that I had. But mine mated right up to the airbox real well. Maybe when the dealer installed it they didn't do something quite right? If you don't think it's mating up correctly, maybe run it back to them and have them double-check their install? (I know I know ... you hate dealers....haha) but if they didn't do something right I'd make 'em fix it!

As far as putting a round element over the TB ... I can't tell you what you'd gain. Never tried it. Kinda defeats the purpose of what you've already paid for though.

GOOD LUCK!

I cut the back of my 98 Dodge Dakota cab off, and the back of the bed. I also cut off the back of the cap also, I and redoing the back of the truck into a customized area. I want to add a set of seats in the back to add more room to transport people. I need to find a rubber or vinyle casing to go around the edges of the cab, bed and cap. It also has to waterproof the cap, cab, and bed so there are no leaks between the vinyle. There is about a 2 inch gap between the cab, bed, and cap. I need to somehow to connect and waterproof. If you have any ideas or a product the does such a thing write me back, Justin
