 Subject: Hood/intake

I have a hood with two grills for the air intake. The air goes into the hood then through a hole about 5 inches round.(HOLLOW FIBERGLASS HOOD). I have this intake system that has a tube going from the stock airbox to the hood. They meet and form a seal. I have a K&N filter in the box. I had all this work done from the dealer. He said that it was a different air box from K&N. I think its the same. I want to know if anyone thinks this is a good set up? Should I go with an open eliment under the hole and let it suck in all the air it can. Also I hear people talking about replacing the air hat what is that?? If anyone has any trouble understanding my question please ask what you would like cleared up. THAnks
