I have a buddy that just bought a set of thirty dollar lowering blocks for his '00 Sport. He dropped it about two inches in the rear to level it out. He said the tires hook up a lot faster now with not nearly as much wheel hop! Can anybody explain the physics behind this?

OK.... by dropping the REAR, he's effectively moved the center-of-gravity toward the rear, placing more of the vehilces total weight on the rear wheels - therefore, better traction.

As for the wheel-hop... dunno. I've MELTED rear the tires on a rental (he he he) QC 4.7 without a hint of wheel-hop.

The reason I was asking was that I do experience a lot of wheel hop. I am on my second set of tires, 245 60 15's Dunlop GT Qualifiers, because my first set was so bad out of round(BF Goodrich stock 235 65 15's) that I had to trash them. Only had 17,000 miles on them. I guess the best answer would be to keep my foot off the floorboard, but it's so much fun!!!
Also, Bernd had recommended traction bars or rear spring clamps. Would the clamps interfere with daily driving or are they meant for the drag strip only?
