Message: I installed the Raybestos ceramic pads on my 2000 4X4 Dakota. Right from the box, the PN is PGD820QS
If you wish to get their cheeper 'brutestop' pads, I would expect the PN to be the same except for the suffix. (Perhaps PGD820BS ?)
I had a heck of a time finding these pads. Most of the parts stores I called did not have them available. NAPA said they had 1 set in Texas and tried to order them (to Vermont)... but they got sold before I got ahold of them.
I ended up going to a parts store that is a member of the "federated" group. They apparently have a direct connection to Raybestos and was able to order these pads for me.
I hope this helps you.

Message: Ohhh you asked how I like them too 8-)
At the same time, I also installed powerslot rotors from one of the group buys.
The combonation of the powerslots/ceramic pads is VERY noticable. The brake pedel feels less mushy and the stopping power is greatly improved.
My original rotors (at 35000 miles) were badly rusted from several Vermont winters. Even an evening of rain would cause a layer of rust the next morning. BUT... they never warped!
Ill GIVE away my original rotors to anyone that has warping problems and does not want to go with powerslots. (just dont get them wet ;-)

Message: Bruce P,
Thanks for the P/N, may have to go with the the QuietStops but had heard the semi-metallics stop better than the ceramics-honestly don't know.
Glad you like the ceramics w/the Powerslots-got them too and will mount with whichever new pads-I'm at 32500 miles on orig pads/rotors.
Rotors aren't warped yet but then I'm a real a-hole about proper torque on lug nuts.
Again, thanks for the replies.

According to my research, the CARBON-based pads DO have better stopping power than the CERAMIC-based pads.
My personal choice of the ceramic-based pads was to reduce all of the black crud that used to build up on the front wheels.
If you are looking for the ultimate in stopping power, go with HAWK or PFC (PerformanceFriction Corp) pads. LOTS of black dust... but they stop real well. My drag-racing friends say "they stop like a F*@K!"
Do not forget that some hi-performance brake pads do not work well until they are VERY hot. These are designed for racing applicaitons and are not well suited for the street. Stay away from "racing" brake pads.

Message: Bruce P,
Thanks for the all the insight. Guess I'll go the ceramic route by default this time.
Know what you mean about 'racing pads'. Just thought the Brutestops would be sort of a middle of the road approach for me but, oh well.
Anxious to get the Powerslots installed.

Message: Have you seen this web page? Good info on how to temper new rotors and bed the pads.

Message: Hey Bruce, thanks for that page, it's pretty informative.
Never heard of 'stage torquing' the wheels will have to add it to the repertoire.
