Subject: anybody w/ a Roe racing controller IP: Logged
Message: I just got my Roe racing controller. Its part of the Lightning killer pkg from KRC. I was reading the directions and it looks like a nice little piece for tuning A/F and timing but it looks like a wiring nightmare. How hard was it to install and how long did it take you to figure out the right settings.
I got the 2.02 heads , big cam , M1 2bbl , RRs and other stuff going on it soon and was wondering if I should get all that on and running before I put on the Roe controller.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

Message: I just got a controller also. After looking at the schematic, it looks like a fairly easy install. After I get it in and operational, I will post install time, problems (if any), etc...

Message: Hey chuck , did you have to turn the dials on the Roe to zero before start up ? And then turn them to what ever setting it recommends when its running ? Didnt it run like crap for a bit ? They say that in the instructions. " Dont worry if it dies on you a couple of times" Keep me posted. What state you in ? wanna come set up mine ? :-)
Thanks

Message: I have had one on my Dakota for about a year now. I also live 5 mins away from Seans Shop. I can feel a difference, but not sure how much I have gained. I have yet to put the truck on a dyno and play with it. The install is easy, and if you already have it, you might as well go ahead and install it. You can always just re-adjust it once you guys install your other performance mods. I will say that I can sit with the truck at idle and turn the knobs and change the idle of the truck and watch the A/F gauge change as well. As long as I have had mine, I am still trying to find the right "tune" for it. Once I get a few more of my mods done (R/T heads and re-flash pcm), I will have the truck up on a dyno for some results.

Message: KRC has them for sale. You can check them out. www.krcperformance.com
Here is there description from the site:
The Roe Racing engine controller with high impedance air/ratio gauge. This controller is fantastic for tuning in the MAP sensor circuit. You can adjust the fuel mixture in part throttle conditions and in wide open throttle conditions for maximum power out of stock or modified PCM's. Great for aftermarket cams and superchargers. $450

Message: I was gonna say...the "Roe Racing Controller" is just a Split-Second ARC1 with ARM1 A/F meter.
Simple installation:
1) Locate a suitable fused +12V connection. Frequently the best place is on the fuse
block. Connect the RED wire to +12V with either a butt or push-on crimp connector.
Be sure to connect the RED wire to a switched +12V line. Otherwise it will drain the
battery.
2) Connect the GREEN wire to the signal output of the MAP sensor (Middle wire on MAP sensor). A butt or insulation piercing crimp connector may be used.
3) Connect the VIOLET wire to the MAP signal input of the ECU.
4) The BLUE wire is available as an option. It provides a +5V supply voltage and may be
used to power a MAP sensor. If the BLUE wire is used, the power ground terminal of
the MAP sensor must be tied to chassis ground. - Not required on our engines.
8) Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

Message: Just curious guys. Can you adjust the fuel with the knob? or do you have to do like the Split Second and use a lap top? Seems to me if its just the knob it will be easier to tune. I need one so if you guys could help me out here. The 24lb injectors and blower is running super rich at idle. I don't run the truck at all because of this. Thank for the info guys.
