Subject: Need Some Help. IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys.
I got a little problem.
This has to do with a GM vehical so i guess it all makes sense now.
I seem to have striped one of the thermostate housings bolt holes on my 350 chevy. The hole is accessable from the top.
What should i do to get this fixed.
1. Take of the intake and get it drilled and retaped to a bigger size. (There is room.)
2. Try and tap it well its still on the engine.
3. Your idea.
Thanks.

Message: if you're going into steel drill and re-tap. Aluminum or cast use a heli-coil available in parts stores.

Message: There is this stuff made by loctite you could try. It comes in a tube, blister packed with som blue liquid. What you do is put some of the contents of the tube in the bolt hole, then coat the old bolt in the blue stuff(release) and thread it in on the old threads. When it all sets up you have new threads, and from my experience they are fairly strong. I didn't use enough of the release once and ended up breaking off the bolt I threaded in thrying to get it out. It's a thought though.
You could always pull the intake and have the hole filled with alum or whatever material it is, then redrill and tap. Probobly best to take it off so you don't have to worry where the chips end up and how to clean them.

Message: I did this on my stealth a while back... I just got one of those little kits at home depot that drills out the existing bolt, re"threads" it, drop a little threaded spring looking thing and put the bolt in there...
need in more info and I can send you en email with a pic of the thing if you want.
It sucks to have this happen... scared the crap outta me.

Message: Well, yo, you could try putting some washer fluid in the tranny, or put on a new bedliner. That's where i would start. Hope this helps.
Hollah!
