Message: They won't fit in the heat shields. Remove them. They're not needed with better than stock wires, and they hold heat and dirt as well. I have Taylor wires on my truck, and I removed the heat shields. I removed them on my old '99 and my current '00 and have never had any problems. Lose them!!

Message: return the wires to where you bought them and get a set (anybrand) that is properly designed for your truck, anything less is sacreledge. If they don't have the right ones go somewhere else.

Message: Just put Vise-Grips on them and pull them out. You may need to twist them a little. I don't know what Bill the Cat's deal is, but most performance wires don't come with boots that will fit way down in those heat shields. I have headers on mine and Taylor wires with no shields, and have had absolutely no problems in over 20,000 miles. Actually the shields get really hot and hold the heat.

Message: The heat shields are just sprung into the cavities where the spark plugs go. You just squeeze them a bit and twist and pull. They come right out. I have removed them on all three of the dakotas I have owned with no problems.
