Subject: Please help, After headers, runs lousy IP: Logged
Message: So here's the quick story. Stock '02. It has 3923's and 180 stat...ran fine, slight miss as my previous post.
Yesterday, buddy of mine who runs a speed shop and def'ly knows his stuff, installs my headers, he did not disconnect anything or and only removed one plug wire(all eight checked by the way) Vehicle was started up with an erractic 'miss' at idle and slightly above. I'm stumped. I did not inially try the PCM reset but since then tried twice( I think I did it right, negative off, start position 20 sec??), still the same. Throttle is just not smooth and feels sluggish. It does rev but when you step on it but again accelerating smoothly is not too good. Also as I mentioned, initially my intake system was only half done, tonight i took my time and did the FIPK which went well. Results....no backfire(yes, had one with the half an intake) but still lousy near idle and slightly above, sounds like its missing, does not throttle smoothly around that rpm. Is it possible with better intake/and headers, flow is screwed up?? I have no catback yet, it's stock after headers and my Gibson Catback is on order but not in yet. Please help........

Message: It sounds like a mixed up set of plug wires (i've done it myself). Runs rough at idle and misses...check the rear wires (5,7 and 6,8).
Headers won't cause this unless something else was disconnected (vacuum line or sensor wire).

Message: Definitely have to agree with Bernd. Despite all my precautions, I still mixed up two wires when I did the cap, rotor, plugs & wires swap. It idled rough, and had sluggish response at lower RPMs, but seemed to "smooth out" in the mid- to upper-RPM range.
After consulting the FSM for 20 minutes & drawing diagrams, I went back out & found that I had mixed up the back two plugs on the passenger side.
Ran nice & smooth after that!
