Message: i had to remove the passenger side leaf spring on my old 89 chevy full size pick up(broke the front eye on the main leaf). it was a bitch let me tell you and i had a hoist, a torch and air tools. i wouldn't want to try it in my drive way. the bolts and everything was all frozen up. i think it might be easier if you do it on a late model dakota because mother nature didn't have the time to act on all the fasteners. hope this helps.

Message: I have a full size E350 Van/RV. I have to deflate the rear tires from 80 to 25 psig so I can pull into my garage. Not good for the tires and is a pain. I want to remove a leaf spring and then compensate with rear air shocks. Will this work? Is it safe on the road with only 3 of the 4 leafs - with air shocks? Needs to lower 1.5" to fit in the garage.

Message: It can be done by yourself, but it is a lil time consuming, but I dont recomend removing a spring, the be will not be able to huall alot and it will be a bad ride, I recently changed mine out, it it is a drop that you are looking for, but drop blocks or a set of already lowered leafs.

Message: Thanks for the reply. Just spoke with a local spring shop - and it sounds like you are suggesting the same thing they are... It's an RV - so the load will remain somewhat constant. They recommended not removing a leaf but rather "de-arching" the springs. Not sure of the costs yet - the de-arch is a per spring process. Sounds time consuming$$! Oh well, less time lowering and filling my tires, not to mention the wear and tear on the tires. Thanks.
